Lore:  
There are few sailors of the Hollow Sea brave or non-superstitious enough to whisper of The Maw, the deepest oceanic trench upon Newerth's scarred landscape. Those who can muster the courage to mention it speak only myth and rumor, for any vessel unlucky enough to actually gaze into the churning abyss is pulled to its black depths forever...or until The Maw decides to regurgitate them, the living drowned, twisted and deformed by the crushing pressure and insidious consciousness of the void.

The creature known as Riptide was the finest captain of the Legion's Armada, and any who questioned her ability due to gender would find it hard to continue their insults with a slit throat. Her ship, The Mermaid's Wrath, was sailing upon calm waters when the sea began to swirl and churn. The Maw was hungry. The Mermaid's Wrath and her entire crew were lost to the whirlpool, and as soon as the top castle disappeared the waters returned to serenity. But below the surface, these fine sailors and their captain were just beginning the endless torture of The Maw. Their lungs were filled with its icy waters, which had a terrible, undeniable consciousness, and their bodies were broken, battered, and reformed in the undertow. When the Second Corruption occurred and all of Newerth shook, The Maw released Riptide to serve as a protector of the deep, imbued with additional strength whenever she feels the cold comfort of water, and to deliver the most skilled warriors of Newerth back to the abyss. If the shape-shifting Riptide is any indication of what will become of them, it is best for everyone to stay out of the river.

Cooldown: 12 seconds
Transforms into an invulnerable wave that can travel through and destroys trees.

Upon reaching the target location creates a huge puddle of water for 6 seconds that silences enemies within 350 range for 2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds.

Don't get caught in THE OCEAN! Mwhahahah!
 
Notes
  • Riptide travels at 1000 speed during Undertow.
  • Puddles have a radius of 350.
  • Destroys trees in a 200 radius while traveling. Also destroys trees inside the puddle when created.

Riptide becomes a massive wave that crushes and consumes everything in its path.
Mana Cost: 100
Cooldown: 160/120/80 seconds
The Entire Map is covered in water for 30 seconds, allowing Riptide to receive all his "In My Element" buffs. In addition, allied heroes within 1200 range receive Bonus Damage equal to 20/30/40% of Riptide's Agility and 20/30/40 Move Speed during the effect.

If Riptide dies, the effect ends early.

You might just get washed away.............IN DOOM!
 
Notes
  • Illusions will also grant bonus damage and movespeed, but the effect does not stack.

    • Wave follows pathfinding, but goes through and destroys trees.
    • When the puddle is created, it silences enemies within range for 2/2.5/3/3.5 seconds regardless of water conditions.

Deals 60/120/180/240 Magic Damage and Silences for 1.5/2/2.5/3 seconds. If the unit is on water it will Slow by 50% for 1.9/2.6/3.4/4 seconds, Silence for 2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds and increase damage to 80/160/240/320.

Mana Cost: 100
Cooldown: 25/20/15/10 seconds
Creates a wave for 1500 units in the target direction that leaves 240 radius puddles for 4 seconds.

Any enemy unit hit will take 50/100/150/200 Magic Damage.

At the end of its journey the wave explodes, applying a 30% Movement Speed slow for 4 seconds to enemies in a 250 radius.

Don't get caught in THE OCEAN! Mwhahahah!
 
Notes

Cooldown: 20 seconds
Passively applies In My Element to self while on water. This effect lingers for 1.5 seconds when getting off water.

When activated creates a 600 radius puddle of water around Riptide. The puddle stays until a new one is spawned.

Gives you wings!

Riptide becomes a massive wave that crushes and consumes everything in its path.
Mana Cost: 150
Cooldown: 100/90/80 seconds
Channeling Time: 20 seconds
Target a direction to begin channeling. While channeling, you become a charging wave with everything-walking and increased speed, up to 600 for up to 20 seconds.

Activate again to turn in the direction of your cursor.

Upon contact with an enemy hero or stopping, causes a 400 AoE explosion: Stunning and Pushing enemies for 1 second, dealing up to 200/300/400 Magic Damage based on speed, and applying Eye of the Storm for 5 seconds.

- Riptide is Magic Immune while charging.
- Maximum potential damage is reached within 2 seconds.

Eye of the Storm Effects
Submerged in water
Reduces Movement Speed by 100% initially, recovering to full speed over 5 seconds.

Notes
  • While channeling, Riptide will gain the effects of In My Element.
  • Eye of the Storm has a collision radius of 150.
  • Eye of the Storm deals damage and stuns in a 400 radius.
  • Eye of the Storm damage mechanics:
    • While channeling, this ability gains a state that starts with 60 charges. It gains one charge per frame (0.05 seconds), and charges are capped at 100.
    • Deals 100/150/200 + (1/1.5/2 * Charges) Magic Damage.
      • Because it starts with 60 charges, Eye of the Storm deals at least 160/240/320 Magic Damage.
    • Turning will not change the number of charges.
  • Enemies hit by Eye of the Storm are pushed 100 units over 1 second.
  • Removed in Version 3.9.9.

All enemies are considered on water and will get the extended Silence and Slow by "Watery Grave".
