Blacksmith is a melee intelligence hero in Heroes of Newerth. He is based on Ogre Magi from Defense of the Ancients: All-Stars.

Lore: The smoke-blackened foundries of the Iron City have long been known to produce the endless stream of weapons and armor that make the Legion's war against the Hellbourne possible. But now, as manpower becomes harder to replace than supplies, the very Blacksmiths themselves have joined the battlefield, bringing strength earned through decades of toil and a mastery over fire itself.
 
  The Blacksmith's damage output is completely dependent on how lucky he is with Chaotic Flames. A multi-casted Fireball can often instantly kill a weaker hero, while a multi-casted Frenzy can potentially buff your entire team.

Hurls a scorching fireball at target opponent, both damaging and stunning them.

Cooldown: 12 seconds
Deals 100/150/200/275 Magic Damage and stuns target for 1.5 seconds.
Look out for embers.

  • Each Multicast impacts the target again in 0.3 second intervals.
    • A 2x Multicast deal 200/300/400/550 Magic Damage and stuns for 1.8 seconds.
    • A 3x Multicast deal 300/450/600/825 Magic Damage and stuns for 2.1 seconds.
    • A 4x Multicast deal 400/600/800/1100 Magic Damage and stuns for 2.4 seconds.
  • Blacksmith Chaotic Flames Chaotic Flames decreases cooldown to 10/8/6 seconds and increases Mana Cost to the following:

The Blacksmith throws a Flaming Hammer at a target enemy, which explodes on impact. The explosion causes the target to burn, taking damage over time, slowing their Movement Speed, and reducing their Magic Armor.

The Blacksmith uses his control over fire to motivate an ally the best way he knows how: with heat! Starts a non-harmful blaze on a friendly unit that increases Attack Speed, Movement Speed, and cast speed.

Applies Frenzy to target for 30 seconds.

The Blacksmith is experienced at gambling with fire, increasing the power of his other spells. When casting his other spells, he has a chance to achieve a much more powerful result.

Your auto attacks now have a 15% chance to cast Fireball, Flaming Hammer, and/or Frenzy. These casts cannot multi-cast and do not share cooldown with your normal abilities.

Range: 600
Mana Cost: 30% of your Current Mana
Cooldown: 30 seconds
Target an enemy unit to cast an instance of level 4 Fireball on them.

Passively grants Fireball and Frenzy a chance to cast multiple times, up to 2/3/4 times.

  • Decreases Fireball's cooldown by 2/4/6 seconds and increases Mana Cost by 10/40/70.
  • Increases Flaming Hammer's AoE by 100/200/300
  • Decreases Frenzy's cooldown by 5/10/15 seconds.
And they said never play with fire.
 
Notes
  • Chaotic Flames calculates Multicast by rolling for a Multicast 1/2/3 times. The game only rolls for another Multicast if the roll succeeds.
    • The first roll has a 25/40/60% chance to succeed.
    • The second roll has a 0/50/50% chance to succeed.
    • The third roll has a 0/0/50% chance to succeed.
    • Therefore, Chaotic Flames actually has a 70/45/30% chance to cast once, 30/35/35% chance to cast twice, 0/20/20% chance to cast thrice, and 0/0/15% chance to cast quadraple.
      • Overall long-term average Multicast multiplier increased from 2.05x to 2.2x.
      • For Level 3 Chaotic Flames, average damage distribution for 1x/2x/3x/4x changed from approximately 20/29/22/29% to 14/32/27/27%, respectively.
  • Staff of the Master Staff of the Master effects:
    • All three of your abilities have an individual 15% chance to cast. You have a 0.3375% chance to cast all three abilities on attack.
    • Your attacks won't cast Fireball or Flaming Hammer if your target is Physical or Magic Immune, and won't cast Frenzy if your target is Physical Immune.
    • Risky Cast! has a seperate cooldown from Fireball.
    • Mana spent with Risky Cast! does not trigger effects that occur when mana is spent, such as Nome's Wisdom Nome's Wisdom.
