Prophets is the first custom map to be released in Heroes of Newerth, with the introduction of Sol's Theatre. The gameplay is based on the Warcraft 3 custom map, Warlocks.

Gameplay[ | ]

Prophets is a Free-For-All game mode. While players are grouped into teams (due to engine limitations), teams itself are arbitrary to the rules of the game.

Each player controls their own Prophet. Prophets possess no form of auto-attack and must use their array of abilities to damage other Prophets. There are a 14 abilities to choose from, 13 of them being skillshots with varying effects, and only one of them being passive. Each Prophet has 500 Health and 300 Movement Speed.

All players start with 200 gold. You gain 200 gold whenever the round is finished and 100 gold every time you kill another player. Before the start of each round, players can purchase abilities from the shop. Each ability costs 100 gold to learn or level, and each ability can be upgraded up to Level 5. Players can have up to 10 active abilities, including Fireball and excluding Lifesteal.

Each player starts at a random location on the map. The stage itself consists of a large, flat field, and the players are surrounded by a fence. Players that are outside of this fence take 50 Damage per second until it returns inside the fence (or has Deflection active). There are also Obelisks on the map. Obelisks impede movement and can be interacted with certain abilities.

Whenever a Prophet dies, it will drop a random Rune. Players can pick up a Rune by walking up to it or by hitting it with certain skillshot abilities. In addition to whatever effect it may bestow, picking up a Rune refreshes all your cooldowns.

Every time a player wins, the Prophet gains a Level. Levels do nothing except indicate how many wins the player has. Once a player reaches Level 4 (3 wins), the game is over and that player wins the game.

Fireball

Shoot fireball in target direction.

Hit any enemies to push them out!

Range: 1600/1700/1800/1900/2000
Cooldown: 6/5.5/5/4.5/4 seconds
Shoots a fireball in target direction at 800/850/900/950/1000 speed.

Fireball has a touch radius of 50 and dies upon impact dealing 50 Damage and 700 push.

Fireballs may hit each other creating a small explosion.

Fireball has 0.25/0.20/0.15/0.10/0.05s cast time and 6/5.5/5/4.5/4s cooldown.

 


Vortex
Prophets Vortex
Cast Time: 0.8 / 0 seconds
Target Position
Type - Magic
Creates a Vortex that pulls in all players in the area.
Range: 600
Radius: 400
Cooldown: 22/21/20/19/18 seconds
Pulls players in 400 range towards the center with up to 40 force for 2/3/4/5/6s.

Vortex takes 0.8s to cast.

 


Explosive Port

Facing
Type - Magic
Teleport forward shooting any enemies away!
Range: 700
Radius: 150
Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 seconds
Teleport 700 units in the direction you are facing, dealing 5/10/15/20/25 Damage and 500/525/550/575/600 push in a 150 radius where you land.

Explosive port has 0.4s cast time.

 


Thunderbolt

Fires a Thunderbolt to the target location.
Range: 750/775/800/825/850
Radius: 100
Cooldown: 11/10/9/8/7 seconds
Target a location to fire a Thunderbolt there.

The Thunderbolt deals 40/45/50/55/60 Damage and 700/725/750/775/800 push in a 100 radius upon impact.

Thunderbolt has 0.5s cast time.

If you target a Thunderbolt near an Obelisk, it will charge that Obelisk with energy. The next time a Thunderbolt lands near a charged Obelisk, it explodes with powerful energy!

 


Meteor

Launches everyone in 300 radius of the Meteor away!
Range: 800
Radius: 300
Cooldown: 15 seconds
Fires a Meteor at target location.

The Meteor explodes at the location in a 300 radius after 1.3s.

The Meteor can travel up to a maximum of 800 range.

Explosion deals Damage based on how close the person is to the center but a maximum of 60/70/80/90/100 Damage and up to 600/700/800/900/1000 push.

 


Arcane Missile

Target Position Organic Enemy Units
Type - Magic
Launch a small Arcane Missile that bounces off everyone it hits.
Range: 1000
Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9 seconds
Target a direction to shoot a small Arcane Missile with a 100 unit hitbox.

For 3/3.5/4/5.5/6s the Missile will bounce off Heroes it hits and retarget towards the next nearest Hero. Deals 10/12/14/16/18 Damage and 400 Push to everyone it hits.

Missile can bounce off your own Hero, but its deals no damage and does not push you.

 


Alter Time

No Target
Use to save your current health and positiion, and then go back in time seconds later!
Cooldown: 35/30/25/20/15 seconds
On use, saves your current health and position.

For the next 2/2.25/2.5/2.75/3 seconds, if you take lethal Damage or press the button again one of two things will happen: If there is an Enemy Hero next to you, they will be ported back to where you casted this ability and you are healed for any damage you took during the duration.

If there are no nearby heroes, you will return to the cast position and healed for any damage you took.

 


Smash
Prophets Smash

No Target
Stomps the ground, teleporting everyone to the other side of you and pushing them around you away in that direction!
Range: 200
Cooldown: 13/11/9/7/5 seconds
Activate to deal 50 Damage and up to 800 Push to enemies within the radius depending on how far they are from you.

Deals 10/13/16/19/22 non-lethal Damage to yourself and pushes you away from the enemies you hit.

Has a 1.0/0.85/0.7/0.55/0.4s cast time.

 


Pullbomb
Prophets Pullbomb
Cast Time: 0.4 / 0 seconds
Target Position
Fires a bomb that you can detonate at any time, pulling people towards the explosion.
Range: 1500
Cooldown: 11/10/9/8/7 seconds
Target a direction to fire a bomb.

The bomb travels at a speed of 750, up to a range of 1500 units.

The spell can then be activated again to detonate the bomb, dealing 10/15/20/25/30 Damage and 700/725/750/775/800 Pull to enemies within the radius.

 


Ghost

Self
Become a Ghost, letting projectiles pass through you and exploding afterwards.
Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 seconds
Activate to become a Ghost for 1.6/1.7/1.8/1.9/2s, dodging most projectiles.

Using an ability while Ghosted ends the ability early.

If Ghosted lasts the full duration, all enemies within 175 range are dealt 30/35/40/45/50 Damage and 500/525/550/575/600 Push.

 


Essence Link
Prophets Essence Link

Type - Magic
Attempt to link yourself to an Obelisk or Enemy, pulling you both towards the other.
Range: 1200
Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds
Fires a Link Bolt in target direction. The Link travels at a speed of 1000, up to a range of 1200, and has a touch radius of 70.

On impact with an enemy or Obelisk, binds both the target and yourself together. For the next 2s you both will be pulled towards the unit you are linked to at 900/1000/1100/1200/1300 Push force.

Activate this ability again to cancel the effect early.

 


Slide
Prophets Slide

Target Position
Instantly push yourself in any direction you wish.
Range: 500
Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds
Target a direction to instantly apply a 800/850/900/950/1000 Push to yourself.

As long as your speed stays above 300, the first enemy to come near you is dealt 20/25/30/35/40 Damage and 560/570/580/590/600 Push.

Casting a spell reduces your speed by 300.

 


Deflection
Prophets Deflection

Self
For a few seconds, Deflect most spells and take no damage from the Arena!
Cooldown: 24/22/20/18/16 seconds
Activate to Deflect most spells for 2/2.25/2.5/2.75/3s.

While Deflection is on, you do NOT take damage from being outside of the Arena!

Using an ability ends Deflection early.

 


Lifesteal
Prophets Lifesteal
Passive
Heals yourself for part of the damage you deal.
Heals self for 8/13/18/23/28% of all Damage dealt.
