There are few sailors of the Hollow Sea brave or non-superstitious enough to whisper of The Maw, the deepest oceanic trench upon Newerth's scarred landscape. Those who can muster the courage to mention it speak only myth and rumor, for any vessel unlucky enough to actually gaze into the churning abyss is pulled to its black depths forever...or until The Maw decides to regurgitate them, the living drowned, twisted and deformed by the crushing pressure and insidious consciousness of the void.
The creature known as Riptide was the finest captain of the Legion's Armada, and any who questioned her ability due to gender would find it hard to continue their insults with a slit throat. Her ship, The Mermaid's Wrath, was sailing upon calm waters when the sea began to swirl and churn. The Maw was hungry. The Mermaid's Wrath and her entire crew were lost to the whirlpool, and as soon as the top castle disappeared the waters returned to serenity. But below the surface, these fine sailors and their captain were just beginning the endless torture of The Maw. Their lungs were filled with its icy waters, which had a terrible, undeniable consciousness, and their bodies were broken, battered, and reformed in the undertow. When the Second Corruption occurred and all of Newerth shook, The Maw released Riptide to serve as a protector of the deep, imbued with additional strength whenever she feels the cold comfort of water, and to deliver the most skilled warriors of Newerth back to the abyss. If the shape-shifting Riptide is any indication of what will become of them, it is best for everyone to stay out of the river.
Riptide gains a lot of momentum early on that allows for a solid ganking role that will culminate in an semi-carry postion at the late game.

The Entire Map is covered in water for 30 seconds, allowing Riptide to receive all his "In My Element" buffs. In addition, allied heroes within 1200 range receive Bonus Damage equal to 15/25/35% of Riptide's Agility and 20/30/40 Move Speed during the effect.
If Riptide dies, the effect ends early.

While this ability is active, Riptide is hidden on the minimap to enemies as long as there are no visible enemy heroes within 2000 radius to her.
Target a location to transform into a tidal wave, becoming invulnerable and disjointing Riptide. Upon reaching the location creates a 350 radius puddle that grants clearvision. Up to 2 puddles will remain on the ground indefinitely.

Target a direction to begin channeling. While channeling, you become a charging wave with everything-walking and increased speed, up to 600 for up to 20 seconds.
Activate again to turn in the direction of your cursor.
Upon contact with an enemy hero or stopping, causes a 400 AoE explosion: Stunning and Pushing enemies for 1 second, dealing up to 200/300/400 Magic Damage based on speed, and applying Eye of the Storm for 5 seconds.
- Riptide is Magic Immune while charging.
- Maximum potential damage is reached within 2 seconds.
